Michael Lindstrom
Michael Lindstrom was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Throughout his life he has enjoyed various forms of creativity. However, it wasn't until he began painting with oils that he finally found his true passion.
Michael's art path has not been a conventional one. After a couple years of college, he jumped into the workforce, and decided to use real life experiences as his teacher. At 41, when he landed upon oil painting, he knew his long search for the ideal medium was over.
Studying under award-winning artists - Mitch Baird and Eric Jacobsen - he has embraced oil painting with voracity. Although he feels he has ground to cover from what may seem as lost time, those years of life experiences are infused into every painting that he does. These days he still works as a business manager during the week, but every available spare moment is devoted to his dream of becoming a full-time painter.
Inspired by the diverse landscape of the Pacific Northwest, Michael enjoys painting local scenes. "There is so much beauty right here, it only makes sense to paint it." Much of the time he enjoys painting from life out in the field in order to capture the colors, light, and the spontaneity of fleeting moments in time. He also enjoys exploring the use of textures in paint to add depth to his compositions. "There is nothing quite like building layer upon layer of thick paint onto a canvas."
Michael also enjoys inspiring others to pursue their own passions and is an active advocate for the arts in the community of Vancouver, WA, where he resides.
